ECG Grid Paper and the Long RHYTHM Strip

 

 

The purpose of this mini-lesson is twofold:

  1. Review the parameters associated with the grid of the ECG grid paper
  2. Discuss the occasional need for a Long Rhythm Strip.

All of the pattern recognition analysis depends on the transfer of the

P-QRS-T waveform being transferred to the grid paper.

This begs the question :

” How fast does the paper feed go in order to synchronize

with the grid paper shown in Ill. 1 ? “

We will answer this question by writing an equation and solving for the unknown.

It is clear that the paper feed rate must satisfy the equation as follows——-

RATE = 1mm per 0.04 sec. = 1/0.04 = 25 mmper sec.
